Solo Excerpts

If you are interested in auditioning for a solo, here are the different excerpts you can sing for me (remember, this is totally optional!):

4th grade - Stayin' Alive by the Bee Gees
Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk,
I'm a woman's man: no time to talk.
Music loud and women warm, I've been kicked around
Since I was born.
And now it's all right. It's OK.
And you may look the other way.
We can try to understand
The New York Times' effect on man.

Whether you're a brother or whether you're a mother,
You're stayin' alive, stayin' alive.
Feel the city breakin' and everybody shakin',
And we're stayin' alive, stayin' alive.
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive, stayin' alive.
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive.

3rd Grade - Blame it on the Boogie by The Jackson 5
My baby's always dancin' and it wouldn't be a bad thing
But I don't get no lovin' and that's no lie
We spent the night in Frisco at every kinda disco
From that night I kissed our love goodbye

Don't blame it on the sunshine
Don't blame it on the moonlight
Don't blame it on the good times

Blame it on the boogie

2nd Grade - Signed, Sealed, Delivered by Stevie Wonder
Like a fool I went and stayed too long
Now I'm wondering if your love's still strong
Oo baby, here I am,
Signed, sealed delivered, I'm yours
Then that time I went and said goodbye
Now I'm back and not ashamed to cry
Oo baby, here I am,
Signed, sealed delivered, I'm yours

Here I am baby
Oh, signed, sealed delivered, I'm yours

1st Grade - Dancing Queen by ABBA
You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, digging the Dancing Queen

Friday night and the lights are low
Looking out for the place to go
Where they play the right music, getting in the swing
You come in to look for a king

K5 - ABC by The Jackson 5
*There are a couple options for K5, pick one of the following verses
You went to school to learn girl
Things you never, never knew before
Like "I" before "E" except after "C"
And why 2 plus 2 makes 4

Now, now, now
I'm gonna teach you
(Teach you, teach you)
All about love girl
(All about love)
Sit yourself down, take a seat
All you gotta do is repeat after me

Reading, writing, arithmetic
Are the branches of the learning tree
But without the roots of love everyday girl
Your education ain't complete

Tea-Tea-Teacher's gonna show you
(She's gonna show you)
How to get an "A" (na-na-na-naaaaaa)
How to spell "me", "you", add the two
Listen to me, baby
That's all you got to do
